Lord Dhanvantari – the God of Ayurveda
Lord Dhanvantari is the Hindu God of Medicines and is also known as the God of Ayurveda. Believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Dhanvantari brings health, wealth and prosperity to his devotees; destroying negativity and removing disease. A great surgeon, Dhanvantari was the discoverer of Ayurveda and is worshipped by Ayurveda Practitioners. It is believed that he first appeared from the ocean holding a pot of Amrit, the life giving elixir. The day of his appearance is celebrated on Dhanteras, just a little before Diwali, the festival of lights.
